Richard Barlow, Sequana (2022)

Edition of 30, 18 in x 24 in, Printed with Print Fellow McKinzie Trotta.

This print made in collaboration with Wassaic Project is based on Richard's site sepcfic installation Sequana, with Wassaic Project's 2022–2023 Winter Exhibition, No Misery Can Tell, No Word of Farewell. Sequana is apart of his series of temporary, site-specific wall drawings, made with chalk on blackboard paint. Source images range from SUV advertisements, to photos Barlow has taken of a copse of trees near his childhood home, birches near his current home in Oneonta, and the pack ice he visited while sailing in the Arctic Ocean as part of the Arctic Circle residency.

Richard Barlow has an MFA in Painting & Drawing from the University of Minnesota and a BFA in Painting from the Rhode Island School of Design. His work has been exhibited in galleries and museums internationally, including recent solo exhibitions at the Bellevue Arts Museum, The Philbrook Museum, Bushel Collective and Landskrona Foto. He is the recipient of numerous grants, including the NYFA Fellowship in Drawing, The Jerome Foundation Fellowship, and The Arkell Hall Foundation Endowed Chair in the Arts.
